Research hint no. 1: Always check the JKM catalog before placing an interlibrary loan
When searching the EBSCO databases and before deciding to place an interlibrary loan, always always always (and we mean always) check the online catalog via the JKM website; you'll save yourself some time if you do. In the EBSCO databases there is, unfortunately, no direct link to holdings (unlike the FirstSearch databases, especially WorldCat). While there is a "Check Journal Holdings" link at the bottom of an article record, clicking on the link will take you to the public version of WorldCat (and to be honest, the interface is downright clunky).
Articles and journals
For example, let's say you were interested in the following article citation found in the ATLA Religion database (and note that the full-text is not available):
Before clicking on the Request from Another Library link, search the JKM catalog to determine if JKM has the Saint Luke's journal of theology:
Click on Go, and you'll be presented with the search results: a list of titles, beginning with The Saint Luke's journal of theology:
Click on the link for The Saint Luke's journal of theology, and the full record for the journal will appear. Scrolling down to the bottom of the page, you'll discover our holdings and the call number: v. 18-34 (1974/1975 through 1991, when the journal ceased publication) and the journal is shelved at BR1.S3310 on the 2nd floor.
Essays and books
For example, let's say you were interested in the following essay found in ATLA RDB:
Instead of searching the name of the essay in the JKM online catalog, search the Source or the title of the book — in this case, God in the fray — in which the essay is found:
Click on Go, and you'll be presented with the search results: a list of titles, beginning with God in the fray:
Click on the link for God in the fray, and
the full record for the book will appear. Scrolling down to the
bottom of the page, you'll discover the call number (BS1192.6 G66 1992) and whether or not the book is checked out:
