Recalls and Holds
Borrowers affiliated with the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and McCormick Theological Seminary have the option of recalling regular circulating material charged to another user by filling out a recall form at the circulation desk. Library staff will notify you when the material is available. Recalls may not be placed upon reserve material. The library will contact the original borrower by phone and (as a courtesy) send an e-mail, informing him/her that another borrower has recalled the material. The original borrower is guaranteed use of regular circulating library material for 7 days, unless the recalled material is needed for reserve. If the recalled material is needed for reserve or was overdue, then the original borrower must return the material within 24 hours of notification. Fines begin accruing the next day at $1.00/day.
If all copies of an item are checked out, a borrower may place a hold request through the online catalog and will be notified by the library when a copy has been returned and is available for pickup. Hold requests may not be placed upon reserve materials. The My Account feature of the online catalog allows borrowers to view or cancel their current hold requests.
