Doctor of ministry students, when researching or writing their project-theses,
often find it helpful to consult completed project-theses that
have been submitted for the LSTC, McCormick or ACTS D.Min. in Preaching
programs. More so than any other resource, project-theses have --
unfortunately -- a variegated (if not complicated) history at JKM,
depending largely upon which school granted the degree. If you wish to acquire a copy of a project-thesis, please contact Barry C. Hopkins at

LSTC doctor of ministry project-theses
LSTC project-theses are fully cataloged, bound and shelved at
Z9499 on the first floor. Professional papers completed as part of the
ACTS D.Min. in Preaching program are fully cataloged, bound
and shelved at Z9469. These papers can be retrieved in the following
manner:
- Search the online catalog using the author, title, subject and keyword indexes as you would retrieve any other library material.
- Search
the online catalog by call number. Change the search index to Library
of Congress call number, and type in either Z9499 or Z9469, and browse
through the results.
McCormick doctor of ministry project-theses
Depending upon the date the degree was granted, McCormick project-theses may be available in more than one format: hardcopy, electronic
(pdf) or microfiche.
- 1975 through 1979: Project-theses completed between these dates (inclusive) are
shelved at Z9999 on the first floor; however, these materials have not
been fully cataloged. They are represented in the card (not online) catalog with an author entry only; therefore, they cannot be searched by title or subject.
- 1980 through 1982: The library does not have any project-theses completed between 1980 and 1982.
- 1983 through 2001: Project-theses completed between these dates (inclusive) are available in microform, arranged by the last name of the author, and shelved in black microfiche trays located adjacent to the bound project-theses. A microform reader-printer is located on the second floor of the library; copies are $0.20 each. These papers may be retrieved by searching the online catalog using the author and title search indexes (both alphabetical and keyword). Note that a subject search will not retrieve any of these items.
- 1983 to the present: Papers completed since 1983 may also be available in electronic (pdf) format. If you wish to examine one of these project-theses in electronic format, please consult the reference or public services librarians.
- 2004, 2005 and 2006: Project-theses completed in 2004, 2005 and 2006 are available in hardcopy and are shelved at Z9999, have been fully cataloged, and may be searched using the author, title, and subject indexes as you would retrieve any other library material.
- ACTS D.Min. in Preaching project-theses: Project-theses completed as part of the ACTS D.Min. in Preaching program and which are clearly identified as such on the title pages are bound and shelved at Z9469; these project-theses are fully cataloged and may be searched using the author, title, and subject indexes as you would retrieve any other material. Project-theses completed as part of the program but not identified as such on the title page have been processed like any other McCormick project-theses, depending upon the date of completion.
- Hunt prize winners: The John Randall Hunt prizes are awarded at commencement for the year's most outstanding doctor of ministry theses. To locate those project-theses that have been awarded the Hunt prize:
- In the search box above, click on Go without inputting any search term into the search box.
- Select the power search mode.
- Leaving the menu set at General keyword, type in the phrase "hunt prize" (with or without quotation marks) and click on Go
- Records for those project-theses awarded the Hunt prize will appear.
