Proxy Borrowing

The JKM Library, as evidenced in its mission statement, exists to serve the mission and programs of LSTC and McCormick. In the interest of supporting faculty in their teaching and research responsibilities, the JKM Library extends proxy borrowing privileges to faculty teaching assistants. The loan period for proxy borrowers is for  91 days, with 2 renewals. Borrowing privileges expire at the end of the semester. A separate library account is created for the proxy borrower, so that the privacy of the faculty member’s own library account is not compromised. Library staff will give the faculty member the proxy borrower account number in order to monitor activity.

Privileges are extended with the understanding that:

  • the faculty member accepts responsibility for monitoring the proxy borrower’s account(s).
  • the faculty member accepts responsible for returning or renewing library materials when due and returning them if recalled.
  • the faculty member accepts responsibility for any overdue fines and replacement costs (including processing and binding fees) for lost or damaged materials checked out in his/her name by the proxy borrower; and,
  • the proxy borrower will check out materials only for the faculty member for whom he/she is authorized to borrow materials.

To apply for proxy borrowing privileges, faculty can request a proxy borrower form at the JKM circulation desk, fill it out, and sign it; the teaching assistant must sign it, as well.
