Welcome to The United Library!

Thanksgiving Break Library Hours

Regular hours resume Dec. 1st.

Laptops Now Available for Checkout:  Those with current Seabury or Garrett IDs may now checkout laptops for up to 3 hrs for use within the Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary Gregory Stacksmain building.   Borrowers will be required to sign a basic "laptop use agreement", which is standard protocol in libraries which issue "loaner laptops."  A USB flash drive is necessary to save documents.  Indeed, Microsoft Office applications will not open unless a flash drive is inserted into the USB port.  In addition to Office 2007, the laptops are also loaded with Media Shout and DVD player software.  We are looking forward to hearing your feedback about this new service.

The United Library was established in 1981 when the libraries of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary were merged.  The two seminaries, one Episcopal and the other United Methodist, are located directly across the street from each other and each school houses a portion of the 320,000 volume collection.  We invite all patrons and visitors to explore the book stacks on both campuses, to use the public study spaces at both library locations, and to delve into our special collections of rare items.
